The ESyDoc Diabetes Project is seeking participation from all ESyDoc practices to boost diabetes outcomes in
Since May a group of East Surrey GPs, secondary care clinicians and expert patients, have been working together on a project to advance the care of diabetic patients in the area, taking a holistic and evidence based approach, with the aim of keeping diabetes care in the community where possible and appropriate. The project has the support of pharmaceutical companies Lilly and GSK who have been valuable resources for data collection and practice support.
Building on the current high standards of care provided in many practices in the area, the project aims to create high standards of diabetes care across all practices in the consortium.
A great deal of background data collection is being undertaken to assess current performance of practices and identify gaps in service and care. Practices involved in the project are currently feeding information back regarding current diabetes care using DiabetesE, a web based, self assessment performance tool that supports the implementation of the NSF for diabetes. Soon practices will be invited to commence a skills and training programme run by the NSHI (National Service for Health Improvement).
