From Monday 2nd April a new service has been available in East Surrey for the urgent assessment of patients referred by a GP or nurse practitioner.

Following the successful training of paramedic practitioners at Townhill Medical Centre in Caterham, discussions have been taking place between South East Coast Ambulance Service and ESyDoc to introduce paramedic practitioners as a "hyperurgent" service to urgently assess acutely ill patients at home in liaison with their GP surgery.

Dr David Hill and Elaine Jackson from the ESyDoc board met with members of East Surrey LINks which represents patients in Surrey to discuss and agree a number of recommendations to be made for out-of-hours care at weekends and evenings.

With respiratory care such a high NHS priority and a huge burden, both on chronic and emergency care services, it is with great enthusiasm that SASH are finalising plans for an Integrated Care Pathway (ICP) for all adult asthma patients who enter A&E for acute care.
