Pipeline Testing Process for CCGs
We end 2011 on a high because we have now received formal notification from the SHA that ESyDoc has scored green in all areas against the risk assessment tests for readiness to move toward the next stage of authorisation as a CCG.
Naturally, we did not achieve this without a lot of hard work; much has been done by members of the Board and our support staff, but the rating also reflects the support given to ESyDoc by the practices and the philosophy we demonstrate of inclusive and collaborative partnership working. The assessment was important as it will enable us to take up full delegated responsibility for commissioning and budgets in shadow form from 1 April 2012. We need to maintain our green status which was contingent on us continuing to make progress so we must keep up the good work.
Alongside the risk assessment, several Board members have taken part in SHA led coaching sessions to think about the future shape of ESyDoc as an NHS Statutory CCG; looking at gaps in readiness and organisational development planning. ESyDoc was required to produce a development plan which we did at short notice and which the SHA and PCT have accepted. We are now working on a more detailed action plan for submission in January.
Success in 2011
This year, I think we have seen some tangible results for our efforts and can demonstrate real benefits to patients through the implementation of the Unscheduled Care Model, the start of the NHS Improvement Project for asthma and most recently the new approach to consultant-to-consultant referrals.
I feel sure that practices will agree that the individual meetings with Board members which took place through out the summer were a very good way of improving communications and understanding. This is being further enhanced through the new buddying arrangements and I hope that all the practices have now been contacted by their Buddy GP.
Website
The website is being rejuvenated and I would urge you to look further. There are some fresh news stories for you to read; find out what Andrew Lansley has said about ESyDoc and who thinks I am an 'influencer'. You can also receive tweets for new items from @ESyDoc.
Thank you!
I would like to thank everyone associated with ESyDoc for all the effort they have put in to making this year such a success. As well as all practice staff, I would also like to give my personal thanks to the other members of the Board who have work diligently for all of us
This year we took some real steps toward attaining our vision, but next year we will have to take large strides and the ground will not always be flat. There will be a considerable amount to do and I look forward to involving practice staff wherever possible. I know that I can count on your continued support as Henry Ford is quoted as saying "coming together is a beginning, staying together is progress and working together is success". Thank you again for all your hard work and support and I wish everyone a restful Christmas and a relaxing break so that we can be ready to face the challenges which the New Year will inevitably bring.
May I take this opportunity to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
