Despite injury, on hot and sunny Sunday 17th April , ESyDoc Chairman, Joe McGilligan, joined 36,500 others to run the Virgin London Marathon 2011 to raise funds for The Children’s Trust.
Finishing in 3 hours 39 minutes, Joe’s attempt to run in under three and a half hours was thwarted by a knee injury he sustained after his dog, Dougie, tripped him up two weeks before the race.
“Running a marathon is something anyone can do if they put their mind to it and believe they can. It is easier than Chairing ESyDoc!!” says Joe, who is now nursing a rather swollen knee.
Joe’s fundraising goes to charity The Children’s Trust, which provides a unique combination of care, therapy and education to some of the UK’s most severely disabled children. It is still possible to support Joe’s efforts in retrospect at http://www.virginmoneygiving.com/JoeMcGilligan
