This issue, the Moat House Practice in Merstham explains how it is embracing new technology to improve communication between patient and practice.
We at the Moat House Surgery in Merstham are keen to use technology to improve the services we provide and give the patient a better experience in accessing those services.
During the coming months we will be introducing online appointment booking which will allow patients to book, modify and cancel appointments themselves. This will be available 24 hours a day, 365 day a year.
The surgery is also looking into using social networking to send updates and announcements to patients. As many mobile phones have Twitter, 4Square and Facebook clients, it would be a cost efficient and (dare we say it?) fun way to communicate with patients.
Later in the year the Moat House Surgery aims to offer Electronic Prescribing (ETP). This will do away with the need to submit a request each month for repeat medication. This means pre-approved prescriptions will be waiting for patients at their nominated pharmacy. The last minute dash to put in a prescription request to the GP will be a thing of the past.
Already patients are able to:
- Register on the surgery website to order repeat medication.
- Complete a patient survey online to give feedback about the service at the surgery
- Go online to tell us of any change to personal details and cancel an appointment.
- Let the surgery know of changes to their health/lifestyle, such as loosing weight or quitting smoking; there is simple form on the website to fill this information in.
